Thanks for coming!
Thank you for coming out to Back to School Night last night! It was great to see all of you. I have posted my presentation down below in the "Important Documents" section for you to view or use as a reference throughout the year.
Welcome to Kindergarten!
Dear Fantastic Families,
Welcome to Kindergarten at Mackay School!! I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this year. I’m sure that some of your children (and maybe some parents) are feeling a little anxious about the first day of school. To be perfectly honest, I still get butterflies the night before school starts. Rest assured, your child and I will hit it off right away and all those jitters will be gone before we know it! Kindergarten is such a fun journey and you will be amazed at how much your child will grow this year. It is also your child’s first introduction to “formal” schooling. I believe it is important to make the best first impression about learning and to teach your child that it is a wonderful lifelong process.
Onto some basics: The first day of school is Tuesday, September 6th. Students should bring a backpack and a hearty, healthy snack (i.e. yogurt, cheese and crackers, fruit, etc) since there is no lunch served to kindergarteners. Dismissal will be at 12:10 pm every day until Friday, September 16th. Full days start on Monday, September 19th. Also, please send a smock (an old t-shirt will do) for our art days and various classroom projects and label it with your child’s name. Lastly, your child’s Take Home folder will be our main mode of communication. Please, make sure you check the blue folder every night. It should be returned to school daily. You can also reach me through email at email@example.com.
During the half days beginning on Wednesday (9/7), I will be assessing your child on his/her knowledge of colors, letters and basic mathematical concepts. I will meet one-on-one with your child for about 20 minutes in our classroom (Room 120). Please, look for an email from me with a link from Volunteer Spot so you can sign up for a time for you to bring your child back to school. If your child attends afternoon SACC, you do not need to schedule a time, I will take them during an open slot and return them to SACC when we are finished.
Our class will be talking about hopes and dreams for the school year so I’ll share mine with you. My hope and dream is for each and every one of your children to feel safe, happy, and successful socially and academically. I look forward to meeting you soon!
